Tools
There are two similar tools available to Canadian physicians for estimating patients’ 10-year fracture risk. The first is the updated tool of the Canadian Association of Radiologists and Osteoporosis Canada (CAROC). The second is the Canadian Fracture Risk Assessment tool (FRAX) from the World Health Organization (WHO).1
Both tools are available at Osteoporosis.ca in the Healthcare Providers section under Tools. These tools use the bone mineral density or T-score for the femoral neck only. They have been calibrated using the same Canadian fracture data and have been directly validated in Canadians.1
